E Mails from Roy Gart= on re land purchase adjacent to Barnton Cricket Club for

allotments and propos= ed announcement in Barnton Cricket Club Newsletter.

E Mail from Roy Garto= n re Website Information re Barnton PC requesting clerk’s

comments etc. <= o:p>

E Mail from Roy Garto= n re Olive Golding’s resignation from Barnton PC.

Clerk had sent letter= of thanks to Mrs Golding and had received a reply.

29/2009 &= nbsp; GROUNDS MAINTENANCE REPORT

Broken fence panel (n= ear Eurobin) reported to John Hughes and painting of railings now

completed.=

Clerk had received a telephone call from Mr Terry Egerton commenting on how well the cemetery was maintained. Clerk had passed = Mr Egerton’s comments on to John Hughes.

Work on Unsafe Headst= ones now completed by K Macey and bill paid. 31 headstones

(registers marked so = that should graves be re-opened then £110 per grave will be added to burial fees) plus two graves repaired, May Min 2/2009 refers.

30/2009 &= nbsp; FINANCIAL REPORT

A Statement of Accoun= ts as at 31^st December 2009 was presented showing a balance of=

£2869.27.<= /o:p>

The clerk said that b= efore Christmas she had contacted Helen Kirsopp as she was running low on funds o= wing to the lack of new graves being purchased.= Helen had taken the matter to

the members of Barnto= n PC who had agreed to set £2,000.00 aside from the Precept for

2010 should it be nee= ded by the BJC. The clerk said she w= as keeping Roy Garton informed

of the financial posi= tion and thanked Helen for her prompt help with the matter.

31/2009 &= nbsp; HEALTH AND SAFETY

As requested the cler= k had written to all Funeral Directors informing them that the BJC

wished to adopt the p= olicy of grave shoring etc. Letter subsequently received from

Damian Dodgson of Geo Bell FD stating that if the po= licy of grave shoring was adopted

the expense would hav= e to be borne by the BJC as the grave diggers would not be able to afford the cost = of the necessary equipment. The Chairman of the Lead Council had asked the

clerk to contact the = Health and Safety Executive for advice. Clerk contacted H & SE and was informed that a document “Be Safe and Shore” was out of print but that a= new document should be out shortly. Clerk informed that shoring depended on ground and depth and risk assessments should be obtained from all grave diggers etc. (This informatio= n re risk assessments/insurance etc. was requested Jan 2009 and is held on file). Mr Kennish also forwar= ded information to the clerk. Clerk had also spoken to Ken Macey who had inform= ed her that if grave shoring was introduced more space would be needed therefo= re fewer graves per row.

After discussion it w= as decided not to adopt the policy of grave shoring but the clerk was asked to write to all the FD’s emphasising that should an accident occur the Cemetery accepted no liability etc. etc.

The Chairman raised t= he issue of salt gritting when necessary in the winter months.

After discussion the = clerk was asked to write to Roy Garton to request information/advice from the insurance company.

32/2009 &= nbsp; REVIEW OF CEMETERY FEES

Mr Wright proposed th= at the fees be increased by 5% as from 1^st April 2010, seconded

Mr Hearsey.

33/2009 &= nbsp; REVIEW OF CLERK’S SALARY

34/2009= &nbs= p; DEEDS AND MEMORIALS

Memorials were approv= ed for Goadby (LC217A), Mutch (LC477).

Johnson (LC206), Pres= cott (LC220A) and Cox (LC218A). &nbs= p;

Inscriptions were approved for Cowley (LC15A), Ormsby (LC221A),

Karpinski (RC392), Mo= ore (LC181), Egginton (LC346), Langer (LC198A)

and Hughes (CON345). =

The meeting closed at= 8.35 pm.

The next meeting to b= e held on April 12th at Barnton Memorial Hall.

Change of Use of Allotments to Consecrated Ground

Roy Garton had forwar= ded a map to the clerk of the allotments in the cemetery and had asked that the members of the BJC mark where they wished the land to be consecrated for burials in the future.

The map was marked an= d the clerk was asked to return the map to Roy and inform him that the members of= the BJC had concerns re the water source.

Review of Clerk= 217;s Salary

Clerk’s salary = to be increased by 2% as from 1^st April 2010.=
