Welcome to the Barnton Village Website, which is maintained and hosted by Barnton Parish Council. Barnton is a pleasant, large village located within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester.  The village lies to the north of both the Trent-Mersey canal (part of the famous Cheshire Ring) and the River Weaver, and around 2 miles to the north-west of the town of Northwich. The village has a long, rural history, but grew rapidly in the 1800s thanks to the success of the Brunner Mond company (who occupied a large site in neighbouring Winnington) and who built hundreds of houses for their workers here. The village now boasts an excellent range of local amenities and is within easy reach of the A49, M56 and M6 making it popular with commuters to Liverpool, Manchester and Chester. It is surrounded by wonderful Cheshire countryside and enjoys an enviable location on some of Cheshire’s most attractive inland waterways.

Mr Keith Reading, 9 Elmwood Road, Barnton
I reside on Elmwood Road, Barnton. I have been a resident of Barnton for nearly
42 years, since my marriage in 1969.I am semi-retired, after serving 36 years in
the ambulance service. I now work on a part time basis, driving school buses for
Walkers Coaches at Anderton.
This is my second term as a Barnton Parish Councillor, having been co-opted on
in October 2009. I had to resign as a parish councillor previously due to work
committments in 1993/94 approximately. Presently, I serve on a number of
sub committees of the parish council namely- Finance and General Purposes,
Burial, and Parks and Recreation Grounds, of which I am presently chairman.
My interests are gardening, walking, caravan holidays, and foreign travel. My pet
hate is litter, of which I "litterpick" when I can, particularly in and around Barnton, and the surrounding areas where the C.W.a C. council operatives do not venture. For example, the footpaths across the fields, and the canal towpaths etc.
