Welcome to the Barnton Village Website, which is maintained and hosted by Barnton Parish Council. Barnton is a pleasant, large village located within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester.  The village lies to the north of both the Trent-Mersey canal (part of the famous Cheshire Ring) and the River Weaver, and around 2 miles to the north-west of the town of Northwich. The village has a long, rural history, but grew rapidly in the 1800s thanks to the success of the Brunner Mond company (who occupied a large site in neighbouring Winnington) and who built hundreds of houses for their workers here. The village now boasts an excellent range of local amenities and is within easy reach of the A49, M56 and M6 making it popular with commuters to Liverpool, Manchester and Chester. It is surrounded by wonderful Cheshire countryside and enjoys an enviable location on some of Cheshire’s most attractive inland waterways.

Mr Matthew Schott, 7 The Orchard, Townfield Lane, Barnton
Originally from Tarvin, just outside Cheshire, I moved to Barnton 10 years ago.
I have a son who is schooled locally and makes great use of the recreation
facilities, and I work Stockton Heath for the Energy and Telecommunications
Ombudsman.
I became a Parish councillor after becoming involved in local politics over a
number of years; I helped run a number of local Campaigns for Trinity level
councillors, and played an active part in a national campaign for my local MP.
I have a firm belief that Parish Councillors should be doing all they can to
empower the residents of Barnton to get involved and have their say in village life, and look forward to trying to achieve this during my time as a councillor.
