Welcome to the Barnton Village Website, which is maintained and hosted by Barnton Parish Council. Barnton is a pleasant, large village located within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester.  The village lies to the north of both the Trent-Mersey canal (part of the famous Cheshire Ring) and the River Weaver, and around 2 miles to the north-west of the town of Northwich. The village has a long, rural history, but grew rapidly in the 1800s thanks to the success of the Brunner Mond company (who occupied a large site in neighbouring Winnington) and who built hundreds of houses for their workers here. The village now boasts an excellent range of local amenities and is within easy reach of the A49, M56 and M6 making it popular with commuters to Liverpool, Manchester and Chester. It is surrounded by wonderful Cheshire countryside and enjoys an enviable location on some of Cheshire’s most attractive inland waterways.

Ms Vanessa Vickers, 73 Mond Street, Barnton
I moved into the village 10 years ago with my lovely partner Barrie and
we currently have a beautiful greyhound girl, Sarah, who is 10 years old.
My childhood days were spent happily in Knutsford where I was schooled
at Egerton Primary school and Knutsford County High School. I graduated
from Manchester Polytechnic in Biological Sciences whilst working for a
large Pharmaceutical Company in Alderley Edge. My parents and two
sisters live in Chelford and my brother lives in Congleton.
The friendly and kind ways of Barnton Parishioners inspire me to help the
Parish grow and develop in a positive way. My main enthusiasm is for the
local landscape  including our woodlands and parklands, small green spaces,
gardens as well as urban space. Much of my time is spent helping to achieve
a well cared for environment for the benefit of our Parishioners and visitors to the village.
For the first time in my life I feel as though I belong to a community and my hopes are for many of us to work together to achieve these goals.
